In 2005 drummer Johan Käck and pianist Joakim Simonsson were fortunate to end up playing together at a jam session. It was obvious that they both had the same attitude towards music and that they enjoyed playing together. But as it turned out, it has taken them more than three years to transform the sporadic jam sessions into something more consistent. During this time they talked a lot about how they wanted the music to sound like if they had a band. As soon as they had figured out which musicians they wanted to be part of the band they started to write music!
In spring 2008, all the band members had been chosen and The Country was formed. Joakim recruited bass player Palle Sollinger and saxophone player Fredrik Nordström. Johan brought the guitarist Alex Simm to the band. The first rehearsal was also the first meeting for some of the guys, which made it even more exciting. Also, each of the six musicians has quite different backgrounds, which add interesting flavours to the music. The quite complex music is a mixture of these flavours and the songs are inspired by everything between country, blues and jazz to classical music. Even if there might be an unusual structure or odd meters on which a song is built, there's always a strong melody and a groove, which makes it understandable and enjoyable.
